Start with four useful habits
- Find your notes. Use the groups of two and three black keys to find your way around.
- Keep a beat. Feel a steady pulse before worrying about speed.
- Move comfortably. Try a short pattern with a relaxed hand position.
- Listen back. Notice what sounds like you intended, and what needs another try.
A clear sequence or a song you love
Begin at Level 1 of Klopol Piano Academy for a broad foundation. Or choose a simple song and learn the notes, rhythm, and movement it needs.
You can combine both: a sequence for the basics, a favorite song for the reason to keep going.
Practice a little piece of the problem
Work on one hand, one change, or a few measures. Make a few focused attempts, then try the larger passage again. Smooth comes before fast.
Not sure what you are hearing? Send Jamin a playing video and a question. You can get help before the same mistake becomes a habit.

You have a teacher to turn to.
Jamin Coller personally reviews members’ submitted playing. Share a short video, explain what feels difficult, and get guidance for your next practice session. You can ask before it sounds perfect.

Real tools. Ready when you are. ↗A few things you might be wondering.
Do I need an 88-key piano?
No. You can begin on a smaller keyboard. A full-size weighted instrument becomes more useful as your range, technique, and repertoire grow.
Should I learn to read music or play by ear first?
You can develop both together. Reading explains written music, while ear training helps you recognize and reproduce what you hear.
How long should a beginner practice?
A short session with repeated hard attempts is usually more useful than a long unfocused session. Choose a small goal you can clearly finish.
What if I do not know whether I am playing correctly?
Record the passage and submit it with a specific question. Jamin can personally review the playing and suggest the next useful change.
