Growin Up is very near and dear to my heart. I still feel a lot of emotion when I perform this song. I wrote it about 2 of my best friends. I met them when I was in Kindergarten. I was a very shy and super anxious little girl and I always found so much comfort in these 2 brothers who were in my class. They were always there for me all the way up through middle school. We’ve done so much together over the years we basically grew up together and I always have felt as if they were as close to what having brothers would feel like (if I had brothers). We even formed a band for several years called the Journey Jrs. The both have many qualities that I admire. After we all graduated from middle school, we’ve seen each other much less. (I used to see them almost everyday!) Now that we have all moved on to different high schools, they have a new chapter in their lives and so do I. But I believe, that doesn’t lessen the bond we have. I still hold them in my heart even when a long time has gone by without seeing each other. I just hope they will always know how much they mean to me. Thank you so much for supporting my music, especially songs like this that are so much more than just a song. This song holds a special piece of my heart.
