DESCRIPTION:

There are a couple way to look at a diminished chord. You can build one by putting a step and a half (three half steps) between each of the notes. But if you already know the minor chord with the same root (which is a major chord with a lowered 3), you can just lower the 5th and you'll have your diminished chord. So a diminished chord is either Root + 3 half steps + 3 half steps or it's a major chord with a lowered 3 and 5.
