Meet Klopol

Our Beloved Mascot Penguin

Klopol has been with Kids Learn Piano Live nearly since the beginning. He had no English name, and we could not pronounce his penguin name, so the students put it to a vote.

“Klopol” was the winner, and he really seems to love it! He has since brought several of his Antarctic and Galapagos friends to visit the broadcasts.

Klopol spends most lessons trying to hurry Jamin toward the fun parts. Although he has no fingers, he still plays piano and proves that anyone can make progress with practice.

How It All Began

First Meeting

Jamin first met Klopol at the beach in Bodega Bay, where Klopol was giving his son a swimming lesson. To Jamin's surprise, they each had matching floaties! When Jamin asked about the unusual training method, Klopol replied, “Squeaker squeak squeeken!”

We still have no idea what that means. But a polar bear friend eventually explained Klopol's floaty story, and now you can enjoy the children's-book version and official song.

A Story About Belonging

Klopol's Childhood

Even though Klopol was bullied by several peers, he found supportive friends who accepted all his odd behaviors. That experience taught him a lot about accepting others, especially young people who learn differently.

Bradley Paul Clark and the Kids Learn Piano Live singers joined a live-streamed tutorial of Klopol's song, complete with penguin-themed treats.

We're so glad Klopol came into our lives. He's talented, curious, and always looking for fun and adventure. We think you'll love him too.

Learn From Klopol's Story

Your words can really hurt, but even when others use hurtful words or make fun of you, someone nearby loves you very much. And when you see someone else who needs a friend, be the person they need you to be.
